Due to the joint experience of our trainers’, we are able to offer varied training which we tailor to the individual’s needs. Even before bringing a dog onto the field we offer training in your own home.

STEVE HARE
Owner and Trainer
Steve has owned and worked dogs for over 20 years, he now has 8 dogs which all enjoy life doing one or more of the following activities, Gundog, Agility, Canicross or Mantrailing.
He started his dog training career in 2010, when he founded Hare and Hounds Dog Training.
He studied with the Academy of Dog Training and Behaviour (ADTB) where he is an accredited and certified trainer and assessor.
Also becoming an accredited trainer with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT).
Steve has done numerous courses since becoming a dog trainer to ensure he is totally current with all new training methods; a number of his qualifications require that Steve carries out Continual Profession Development each year to remain a qualified trainer.
Steve is one of just a few Gundog Club accredited trainers and assessors to Grade 5, he also holds qualifications in Dog First Aid and Dog Nutrition.
Steve is also a qualified Human first aider keeping these skills up to date.
More recently he qualified as a Mantrailing Instructor, after passing the Mantrailing UK instructors assessment in 2021.
Steve is a member of the UK Behaviour and Training Charter.
Steve also holds a City and Guilds qualification in Teaching and Occupational qualifications in assessing.
Steve keeps himself fit by participating in Ultra Challenges where he raises money for the Dogs for Good Charity.

SUE HARE
Trainer
Sue has always had a love for dogs growing up with them in the family home and owning them herself from leaving home in 1987. Sues interest in training dogs and learning more about how they tick really started in 2012 when she was training her collie for agility and obedience also occasionally helping Steve at Hare and Hounds.
Fast forward to 2020 and Sue joined the Hare and Hounds team initially as sports dog trainer, having been competitive in agility since 2012 and canicross since 2015. After taking this step Sue soon realised this was the career path she wanted to take and went on to study and become an accredited trainer with both the IMDT and the ADTB.
In 2021 Sue learned about the work of KAD (Kids around dogs) and took the steps necessary to become an accredited trainer with them also, helping children to overcome their fear of dogs.
Sue has taken one of her dogs (Broc) to Gundog Club Grade 4 and works him in the shooting field, 2025 starts the journey again taking his son (Oakley) through the grades as well.
In 2023 Sue became an accredited trainer and assessor with The Gundog Club.
Keeping on top of training is very important to Sue and she has also completed diplomas in both Canine Behaviour training and Understanding canine anxiety as well as being a qualified Human and canine first aider, keeping CPD and skills up to date by annually completing courses and reading.
In 2021 Sue also undertook a City and Guilds trainer skills qualification.
Sue is a member of the UK Behaviour and Training Charter.
Having 8 dogs at home Sue finds it very important to keep them all busy and in 2021 started mantrailing with one, getting the bug and going on to pass the mantrailing UK instructor assessment.
Sue continues to take part in Agility, Canicross and Mantrailing.

WILL GRAY
Trainer
Since buying his first pup, Holly, in 1998, dog training and behaviour has been a central part
of Will’s life. Over the years, he has trained for and competed in working tests, worked his
dogs on shoots, and cherished them as much-loved family companions.
Will now owns two Labradors, Ruby and her daughter, Chili, both of whom have reached
Grade Four of the Gundog Club training scheme, achieving full distinctions throughout. They
have also reached a high standard in general obedience.
Passionate about sharing his knowledge and experience, Will is committed to staying up to
date with the latest training methods. He continually invests in his CPD, regularly engaging
with books, webinars, and courses. He also holds diplomas in Canine First Aid, Canine
Communication, and Canine Cognition. He is also a qualified Human first aider.
Since joining the Hare and Hounds team in 2022, he has been able to extend that passion even further.
Will is a fully accredited IMDT (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers) instructor and an approved
ADTB (Academy of Dog Training and Behaviour) trainer and assessor, having passed all
parts of the ADTB with A+ diplomas. In 2023, he also became an accredited trainer and
assessor with The Gundog Club.
As a member of the UK Dog Behaviour and Training Charter,
Will continues to expand his expertise in both dog training and behaviour — all with the goal
of helping dogs and their owners build stronger, happier relationships.
Hare and hounds dogs
Blaze
Born in 2010 and being the eldest of the pack he keeps a watchful eye on the youngsters. Although retired last year Blaze worked for 10 years in the shooting field and was a super shooting companion.
Jack
Rustys littermate born in 2012,he is the most steady and sensible of the pack, he worked alongside his dad in the shooting field and took over the mantle of head dog after Blaze’s retirement. Jack is also our KAD dog and loves his sessions working with children.
Blitz
Born in Devon in 2015 he was trained as an agility dog from day 1, reaching KC Grade 7 which is the highest achievable grade. Although a veteran now he still enjoys the odd class at local shows.
Rusty (2012-2023)
Blazes son born in 2012. As a youngster Rusty started agility training but we soon discovered his passion was running and racing, from 2015-2020 he ran canicross competitively and he still enjoyed the odd run up until the year we lost him, Sadly passed away December 2023, will always be missed.
